Below are several Frequently Asked Questions.
If you have another question, contact your instructor.

1. How do I log in?
Click on the Bb icon above.  If you do not know your Username and password, go to [My VWCC] for help.

2. When I log in I do not see the course.  What's wrong?
This might happen at the start of the semester because you have registered for the course but haven't been added to the Blackboard roster yet.  New students are added automatically but not immediately.  Give it a day or so.  It also could happen later on if you have been dropped from the class as a "no show" or administratively withdrawn.  This can result from nonpayment of tuition or lack of academic progress in the course.  If you have a question about this, contact me.

3. How do I post a comment in the Discussion Board?
Enter Blackboard, select the course, click on the "Discussion Board" button; next click on the forum heading, read the opening thread posted by the instructor, read the responses, click on the "reply" button, write your comment in the window, click on the spell-check icon and make corrections as needed, preview your comment, then if you are satisfied with it click on the "submit" button.

4. What If I don't see a text box to write a reply?
Sometimes if you don't see a text book in which to reply, it may be a software glitch.  You have to disable the text box editor.  Go into Blackboard > personal information > click "set text box editor options" > make the text box editor unavailable > click "submit" to finish.  This should do it.

5. Why did I not get a reply?
Other students might reply; I respond to many comments but not every one.  Do not be worried or offended if you do not get a reply.

6. Sometimes the Discussion Board won't open or freezes up.
Try logging out and back in.  Also try closing and reopening your web browser.  Last resort: reboot your computer.  If all else fails, contact Tech Support (not me because I can't help.)

7. How often should I comment in the Discussion Board?
There is a new thread every week and you should comment 3 or more times on each thread.  It is our virtual classroom, so reading and responding to the comments is like "showing up for class."  Just write what you think.  Refer to the Instructions and Scoring Rubric.  Refer to the tentative list of weekly discussion topics: 121 or 122.

8. How can I check my grades?
Log in to Blackboard, go to "student tools" and then "my grades."  Refer to the course syllabus for an explanation of course requirements, how points are awarded, and the grading scale.  Scores for Bb discussion are posted at the end of each unit.
