obsessions...................
Those of you who read mathematics
history know that mathematics and madness are not too far removed. Many mathematicians
suffered mental distress. For example, Cantor
spent the last several years of his life in an insane
asylum.
Cardono
became so obsessed with predicting future events that, in
order to make a reality of his prediction regarding the day that his own death would
occur, he proceeded to kill himself that same day.
If mathematics is an obsession with you, perhaps you should give this some consideration.
However, this awareness has not deterred me from pursuing mathematics...it is not a
question of whether madness will come, it is merely the degree to which it shall be
experienced!
