Library Handbook
This is the online version of the
Brown Library Handbook. A print copy of this handbook is
given to all English 111 students. The handbook was written to
go along with the English 111 library worksheet. Each section in
the handbook covers a different step on the worksheet and
provides detailed information about each source being used as
well as search tips and techniques.
The print version of the handbook
also includes general information about the library such as
hours and
phone numbers. Copies are available
at the reference desk
on the main floor of Brown Library.
Please note, the library handbook is
under revision. Effective July 1st, we are losing our contract
with Thomson Gale. Instead, we have a new contract with
EBSCO. The Brown Library Handbook and Library web pages
will be updated in late August to reflect these changes. If you
attend an English 111 orientation during the summer you will be
given copies of the old library handbook and a new library
worksheet. In the handbook, please ignore the chapters on
Thomson Gale and on Opposing Viewpoints. The handbook
does not include a chapter for EBSCO, but you will see
that it is included on the worksheet for Step B. Your
orientation will include instruction on using this new database.
