English 111
The library assignment is a
requirement of English 111 classes. You should receive a copy of
the assignment and of the Library Handbook in your English class
or at the library orientation session held at Brown Library. Most
of the files linked from this page are also reproduced within
the Library Handbook. Extra copies are also available at the
library reference desk. The
worksheet example is on the topic of animal rights. You may use it as
a guide to filling in your own worksheet. The citations are
formatted in MLA style. For more help with
citing sources go
to this page of links and handouts.
There is also a link to
a blank worksheet. You may print a copy and fill it in by hand
or you may save a copy on the computer and type your answers. To
do it on the computer, you will have to be familiar with
Microsoft Word or another word processing program. It may be
necessary to work with changing font sizes and other formatting
features in order to fit your work on the page and have your
citations be formatted in proper MLA style. If you choose to do
the worksheet by computer, please remember to save the worksheet
before you start to do it. If you are in the library, you may
choose to save it to a disk or to the library computer desktop.
If you do save it to the desktop, you will need to complete it
before you leave, as items saved there are lost as soon as the
computer is turned off. For more help, please ask a library
staff member. The Library Orientation link takes
you to the Power Point presentation that is shown during the
English 111 library orientation class. To view the presentation
you must save it first. To do that, right click on the link and
choose save target as. Then decide where to save it. If
you are in the library you may choose to save it to the desktop. |
