Reserves &
Videotapes
Edgar Anderson is your reserve
librarian. You may contact him at 857-7242 or email him at eanderson@vw.vccs.edu)
Reserves:
Occasionally teachers put books and other materials on restricted
circulation for use by the whole class. This is the “reserve”
service. Usually reserve materials may be borrowed only for an
hour or two and are not allowed to be taken out of the building.
Do not assume that your teacher has materials on reserve unless
you are specifically told this. Many teachers do not use the
reserve service. Reserve materials are kept behind a desk and
handed to you by a staff member. Essential to any reserve
operation is a nearby photocopier. Each reserve site discussed
below has a photocopier you can use.
Videotapes:
Videotapes for distance learning classes are available at the
circulation desk on the top floor of Brown Library. You will be
required to show a library card in order to check out the
videotapes. If you do not have a card, bring picture
identification so that you can obtain one. Sets of tapes are
checked out until the end of the semester. At that time you may
return the tapes directly to the library or mail them back to the
address below:
Brown Library - Circulation Dept.
Virginia Western Community College
PO Box 40012
Roanoke, VA 24022-0012
An excellent time for checking out
tapes is when you come on campus at the start of each semester for
the required distance learning orientation. The library will ship
tapes to you only if you live outside Virginia Western's service
area. For example, we will ship tapes to you if you live in
Christiansburg, Martinsville, Lynchburg, etc.
