Reference Services

Laura Milliman is your reference librarian. She is available to help you Monday through Friday from 8:00-4:00. You may email her at lmilliman@vw.vccs.edu or call her at 540-857-6509. Ms. Milliman will get back to you by the end of the next business day.

Ms. Milliman can help you find books and magazine articles. She can help you figure out a search strategy and guide you through your use of the online databases and the reference books.

For immediate reference help in the evening or on Saturday call 540-857-7303. A librarian is available to help you during all the hours the library is open.

In addition, the Virginia Community College System (which includes Virginia Western and 22 other colleges) has started a virtual reference service called LRC Live. At selected times during the week VCCS librarians are available online for consultation. To access this service, click on “Ask a Librarian” on the library's home page.
