Why are we moving to Mirapoint?
Currently the VCCS hosts and manages our
email. The existing mail server is far out of date and is unsupported. A
critical failure in the current system could result in a total loss of email
service. Migration to the Mirapoint server will eliminate that possibility.
Why don’t we just go to Exchange and skip
the Mirapoint migration?
Moving to Exchange is a huge undertaking.
In knowledge and support it is a larger project than the recent phone
migration. We estimate it could take six months and well over $100,000 to
make the change. Additionally we will need to devote significant staff
resources to the project, as well as obtain high level training in the new
system. We simply couldn’t make that happen by the June 30th
date set by the VCCS.

Your old e-mails will be available for a
short period of time. You will need to login to WebMail (http://webmail.utility.vccs.edu/)
and forward your old e-mails to your new e-mail.
Can I use Outlook
instead of Eudora or WebMail?
Yes! However, we first need to get
everyone switched over to the new Mirapoint servers. Once that is done,
we’ll start helping users move to Outlook 2007.
There will be a web based e-mail service
provided using the new Mirapoint e-mail.
Your e-mail address will not change.
