Math 151 - Mathematics for the Liberal Arts
Distance Learning Course
Course Requirements
List of Tasks for you to
review and complete:
- Get text entitled Mathematical Ideas
by Miller/Heeren/Hornsby (1997) which is available at VWCC's Bookstore.
Bookstore hours are 8:30 am through 7:00 pm Monday through Thursday and
8:30-1:30 on Friday.
- Review Course Outline, including textbook information, videotape
series, textbooks coverage and textbook topics.
- Get the video series entitled Mathematical Ideas
(available in VWCC's Learning Laboratory).
- Read Study Guides section 1-6 with textbook problem assignments.
- Complete additional homework assignments and practice
examinations. (To be turned in and graded as you complete them - mail or drop
assignments by my office in Anderson 122).
- Your Final Grade is evaluated as follows: Mid-term
Examination (40% - in Learning Center), and Final
Examination (60% - in Learning Center). Your homework assignments and practice
mid-term/final examinations are graded and used to insure that you understand the course
materials.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COURSE IS ORGANIZED INTO SIX
SECTIONS WHICH FOLLOWS THE FIRST SIX CHAPTERS OF THE TEXTBOOK. READ EACH CHAPTER AND
WORK BOTH TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS, ADDITIONAL HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS AND PRACTICE EXAMINATIONS.
ONLY THE ADDITIONAL HOMEWORK PROBLEMS AND PRACTICE EXAMINATION ARE TO BE "TURNED
IN" AND GRADED BY ME! YOU CAN CHECK YOUR HOMEWORK PROBLEMS IN THE LEARNING
CENTER.
